The short answer
The Nelson Arms — "The Nelly" — is a pub on Victoria Road in Morley. It has a 600 m² beer garden, cask Ossett White Rat on the bar, DJ nights, functions, and a Wednesday quiz night that packs the lounge. What it did not have, until October 2026, was a website that did any of that justice.
The new site went live on its own domain on 12 October 2026: food and drink, the beer garden, what's on, quiz and DJ nights, functions, plan-your-visit — and one thing most pubs will never have: an online version of the pub's card game — play it here — free to play any time, tied to the Wednesday cash-jackpot quiz night. The owner reports it has been a big hit with the regulars.
Why a card game belongs on a pub website
Most pub sites are a menu and a phone number, visited once and forgotten. The game gives people a reason to come back between visits — and every session carries the pub's name, its quiz night and its opening hours with it. It was built for how the pub actually works: no bookings, no table management, walk-ins always welcome. The website says so on every page, because the quickest way to lose a customer is to promise a booking system the pub doesn't operate.
What we built
- Seven pages: home, food and drink, beer garden, what's on, quiz night, DJ nights, functions — plus privacy and accessibility pages, because a public site owes both.
- Per-day opening hours, not a vague "from 4pm" — Monday to Thursday from 4pm, Friday from 2pm, weekends from midday, published consistently across the page, the data Google reads and the map listing.
- A working contact form with spam protection and a fallback email route — the first enquiries arrived within a fortnight of launch.
- The card game itself: free, no sign-up, playable on a phone at the bar or on a sofa.
The boring parts that matter
The site is hand-coded and fast, welcomes the AI crawlers that now answer "pub near me" questions, and carries proper structured data so Google knows the opening hours, the location and what kind of place it is. The pub owns its domain and every account. It sits on our Essentials plan at £99 a month as one of our founding clients.
The Nelson Arms is a short walk from our own patch in Morley. We built it like a local: what the beer garden actually looks like at five past six on a Friday, not stock photography of somebody else's.
