A profile for where you really are
Your Google Business Profile sits where you're based, with up to twenty service areas listed. On the map, Google favours businesses near the person searching, so that's where your map results will be strongest.

Most Yorkshire customers don't search for "Leeds". They search for the town they're in, or the one down the road. We do SEO for businesses across the county, from a Leeds team that will come and see you.
We can show you this with our own website. In Google Search Console for the three months to 28 October 2026, our town pages averaged position 9.4 for “website design skipton”, 15.5 for “website design rothwell” and 24.5 for “website design morley”. Over the same three months, our main Leeds page averaged 95.8 for “web design leeds”.
Same agency, same website, same effort. The difference is competition: dozens of agencies chase “Leeds”, and a handful chase Rothwell. For most Yorkshire businesses the customers who matter are searching in their own town, which is good news, because those are the searches you can realistically win.
Most Yorkshire businesses serve more than one place. Here's how to be found in each of them without the shortcuts that backfire.

Further out, you're found through the ordinary results, with a page for each town you really work in: local detail, jobs done there, prices, reviews from there. Radiant Dental's site has ten area pages across Tameside, each written about its own town.
Thirty identical pages with the town name swapped. Google calls them doorway pages, and they can drag down the whole site, including the pages that were working.
Morley, Rothwell, Pudsey and Otley customers search by their own town's name, close to home and mostly on a phone. The map does a lot of the work here. Morley · Rothwell
Shipley, Baildon, Bingley and Keighley each have their own identity, and people search for the town, not the district. Bradford · Shipley
Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton, Featherstone and Knottingley: customers move between them, so naming the ones you cover matters. Wakefield · Castleford
Halifax, Brighouse and Huddersfield have catchments that follow the valleys and the main roads, and searches name the town. Halifax · Huddersfield
In Harrogate, York and Scarborough, many customers search from somewhere else, often weeks ahead, alongside a local trade that never stops. The county town, Northallerton, adds a market twice a week. Harrogate · York · Scarborough · Northallerton
Brearley Gas Services in Morley went from no website on its Google profile to 24 pages, published prices and a matching profile in ten days. The case study.
Radiant Dental, outside Yorkshire in Ashton-under-Lyne, is the clearest example of the several-towns approach: ten area pages, every treatment priced, and in its first month on Google 373 clicks and #3 for “dentist ashton under lyne”. Published with the practice's permission.
